Please ensure that you have these action items completed before you come to campus for your Orientation date.
Take the Math Placement Test! Your results on the math placement test will determine what math and science courses you will be eligible to enroll in. Failure to take the math placement test could result in an inability to schedule the most appropriate courses for your autumn semester. You cannot retake the exam, so prepare accordingly! You can find information about the exam here and preparation materials here.
If you took the AP Calculus or AP Pre-Calculus test in 2025, or if your credit has not yet been posted for any reason, it is in your best interest to take the placement test so that your registration in required classes is not delayed.
You may only be excused from the placement test if you have already received college credit for a specific Ohio State math course posted to your student account. This credit may have been earned though college coursework, or Advanced Placement testing.
If you think you might be eligible for honors or advanced math courses, we encourage you to communicate with the Math Advising Office.
The College of Arts and Sciences requires proficiency or coursework at the college level in a World Language.
You are strongly encouraged to take a foreign language placement exam at least two days before coming to Orientation. Even if you plan to study a different or new language at OSU, we recommend that you test in the language you used to satisfy the admission requirement.
If you speak a language other than English, you may be able to have your world language requirement fulfilled through language validation. For more information about language validation, please visit the website here.
You can visit the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures website for testing instructions and email cllc@osu.edu with questions.
You should take the ASC Honors Orientation Questionnaire five business days before your Orientation date. You must be logged into your Ohio State Microsoft Office 365 account to access this form.
During Orientation, you will work with an ASC Honors Advisor during a pre-assigned appointment to schedule for your Autumn 2025 courses. Before your appointment, your advisor will create a personalized recommended schedule based on the information you provide in the ASC Honors Orientation Questionnaire.
If you have earned any Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB-HL), or College Credit Plus (CCP) credit, please make sure you have that information ready.
All official communication from Orientation, the University, and the Arts and Sciences Honors Office will be directed to your BuckeyeMail account. You should make sure you activate your BuckeyeMail account and check it regularly over the summer for updates and important information!
You can use the University Orientation website to find information about the program schedule, registering for Orientation, overnight accommodations, disability accommodations, and more.
