Whether you are looking to see what fellow students have accomplished or are wanting to present your own findings, OSU has a variety of research-oriented presentation events to explore.
Denman Research Forum
The Denman Forum provides an opportunity for graduating student researchers to share their research endeavors with the broader community. This is our only competitive poster forum in which winners are recognized in each category as determined by faculty, staff, and Denman alumni reviewers.
Undergraduate Research Festival
Hosted by the Office of Academic Enrichment, the Undergraduate Research Festival is a research poster and presentation forum for students to share their mentored research projects with the broader academic community. It provides an opportunity for students to gain experience communicating their research in new ways, including designing a poster and discussing the project with festival attendees. The festival is hosted every autumn and spring.
Psychology Research Colloquium
Every spring, the Department of Psychology hosts a Research Colloquium. The Research Colloquium is a poster session that allows students to display and talk about their work with faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students in the Department of Psychology.
ASC Honors Symposium
Honors students starting at Ohio State during the AU22 semester and later are required to complete an Honors Project and present their reflections in a symposium setting. Although other options to present are available, the Arts and Sciences Honors Symposium is sure to be the most popular option. These events are open to the public, and will begin in 2024.
Thesis Presentation Opportunities
- 3-Minute Thesis Competition
The 3-minute thesis competition challenges participants to present their research in just three minutes to an audience, using everyday language.
Thesis Oral Defense
Students striving to graduate with research distinction or with honors research distinction will be required to present their findings at an oral defense before graduation. The purpose of the defense is to allow the faculty committee to determine whether the work of the student who is a candidate for graduation with honors research distinction is truly outstanding. Please note that oral defenses are typically not open to the public unless full Committee approves.
Comparative Studies Undergraduate Colloquium and Career Roundtable
Students from all years with completed papers or a thesis project, as well as works-in-progress, are welcome to submit proposals. We also welcome proposals from non-majors/minors who are writing papers for Comparative/Religious Studies courses. This is an opportunity to share and celebrate the variety of work being done in the department, as well as to gain presentation experience and feedback on your current research.
STEP Expo
Students will have the opportunity to interact with past STEP participants about their STEP Signature Projects, many of which are research-based.
Professional Conferences
Looking for opportunities beyond OSU? Conferences (whether presenting or attending) are great professional learning opportunities for students. Consult with your Primary Investigator (PI) to discuss feasible opportunities for your chosen field!
