Membership for Enrolled Ohio State Students
Current Honors Students Transferring to or Declaring a Major in Arts and Sciences
If you are an Ohio State honors student who is transferring to the College of Arts and Sciences from another Ohio State college or program (such as University Exploration, the Fisher College of Business, the College of Engineering, etc.), you will need to apply for membership in the Arts and Sciences (ASC) Honors Program to retain your honors status.
If you are a current Ohio State honors student who is declaring a second major in the Arts and Sciences and you wish to graduate with honors in the Arts and Sciences or with honors research distinction in your ASC major, you must also apply for membership. Please complete our online Membership Information Session to begin the application process.
Current Students Interested in Joining the Honors Program
If you are an Ohio State student who is not yet enrolled in an honors program, please complete our online Membership Information Session to learn more about applying to the ASC Honors Program. To be eligible to apply, you must have completed at least one semester (12 semester credit hours) at Ohio State and have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average. By the conclusion of your second year of study, you will be expected to submit an Honors Contract to be eligible for graduation with honors in the Arts and Sciences.
Even if you are not yet eligible to apply to the ASC Honors Program, you are encouraged to complete our online Membership Information Session as early as possible in your program of study to learn about honors curricular requirements and develop a plan for your curriculum.
Current Regional Campus Honors Students Coming to the Columbus Campus
If you are an Ohio State honors student at one of the regional campuses and you plan to change to the Columbus campus, you will need to reapply for membership in the Arts and Sciences Honors Program when you change campuses in order to retain your honors status. Please complete our online Membership Information Session to learn about ASC Honors Program requirements in Columbus and how to reapply for membership.
Membership for Transfer Students
If you are transferring to Ohio State from another college or university, you must contact an ASC Honors Advisor to discuss application to the Arts and Sciences Honors Program. Generally, students who transfer to Ohio State must complete at least one semester (12 semester credit hours) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 before applying to the ASC Honors Program. You are encouraged to complete our online Membership Information Session to learn more about ASC Honors Program requirements and how to go about applying.
Arts and Sciences Honors Membership Information Session
All current Ohio State students (including recent transfer students) interested in joining the Arts and Sciences Honors Program should complete our online Membership Information Session to begin the process of applying to the program. During the session, you will learn more about ASC Honors Program, including eligibility, membership requirements, opportunities for Honors students, and the application process.
To request and gain access to the online Membership Information Session in Carmen:
- Email aschonors@osu.edu from your official OSU student email address.
- For quicker processing, use "Membership Information Session Request" as your subject line.
Once your email has been received, you will gain access to the online Membership Information Session within 48-72 business hours, and a link will automatically appear on your Carmen landing page. Please note: You will not receive a follow-up email when access has been granted, so please be sure to check your Carmen landing page.
